Dentist's advice
Our professional advice for healthy teeth.
-
Visit your dentist at least once a year
In order to maintain healthy teeth and prevent dental problems, it is recommended to make an appointment with your dentist at least once a year.
Tartar is difficult to clean and if you attempt to remove it yourself, you risk damaging your gums. Fortunately, your dentist has state-of-the-art tools to gently remove plaque.
-
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
Your gums and tooth enamel are fragile and require gentle treatment. By choosing a soft-bristled toothbrush, you reduce the abrasion on your teeth while facilitating access to the spaces between your teeth.
-
Brush your teeth after every meal
Plaque, if not removed regularly, can lead to cavities and gum problems. Bacteria that damage the teeth feed on the plaque and proliferate.
Fortunately, with regular brushing, you can limit its build-up. By cleaning your teeth after each meal, you can significantly reduce plaque deposits. At a minimum, you should brush your teeth at least twice a day.
-
Replace your toothbrush when the bristles become too splayed
For optimal brushing, we recommend replacing your toothbrush when the bristles become too splayed, as brushing becomes less effective. If the bristles wear out in less than 3 to 4 months, it’s a sign that you’re brushing too vigorously.
-
Floss at least once a day
As the day goes by, plaque and food residues build up between your teeth. Only flossing can get rid of the waste between your teeth.
If you have trouble flossing, you can buy dental floss mounted on forks or small interdental brushes. Nothing beats the feeling of cleanliness after flossing.
